(Wyo)-College Bull Rider Out Of The Hospital And Headed Home To Australia
CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The bull rider from Australia who suffered critical injuries when he was stomped by a bull that threw him at last month's College National Finals Rodeo in Casper has left the hospital after 3 weeks.
Doctors gave Bradie Gray of Odessa College in Texas just a 60% of survival when he arrived by ambulance without a pulse and with multiple broken ribs, 2 collapsed lungs, and a bruised aorta. Instead, he walked out Wednesday - although he was pulling an oxygen bottle.
Gray and his parents, who were there when the bull bucked and stomped him, will head back to Odessa College before seeing another doctor and flying home to Australia.
Gray says he expects to return to bull riding after taking "6 to 12 months off to make sure everything is healed right."
