(Neb)-City Manager Interviews Begin, Second Candidate Withdraws
CHADRON - The Chadron City Council search for a new city manager resumes today with the interview of a third semifinalist by a a committee comprised of Mayor John Coates, City Clerk-interim City Manager Donna Rust, councilman Mark Werner, and city Human Resources Director Bev Bartlett
The council used a weighted matrix system to trim the pool of 13 applicants to 7 semifinalists for interviews, but one of those candidates quickly dropped out and Rust says a second, a female from outside the area, removed her name last week.
Coates says two semifinalists have already been interviewed and the final two are scheduled for tomorrow.
The interviews are being recorded for viewing by the other council members, who will also consider recommendations by the committee before the full council picks two of the semifinalists for interviews as finalists.
Those names will be released at that time and the finalist interviews will be conducted in open public sessions. Coates is still cautiously optimistic the new city manager will be on the job by the end of the month.
