(Neb)-Full PRCA Rodeo Competition Begins In Crawford Listen
CRAWFORD - The Crawford Old West Trail Rodeo and 4th of July Celebration moves into full PRCA Rodeo action tonight at 7:00 after a full day of PRCA steer roping yesterday that drew over 65 competitors, including12 of the top 15 in the current rankings.
This is the 71st year for the Crawford rodeo, but spokesman Jody Bass says it would be a thing of the past by now if not for a strong and faithful group of sponsors headlined by Chadron Motor Company.
Reigning over this year's rodeo are Queen Kasey Ann Kruger and Princess Jody Ann Cowell.
Continuing today at Fort Robinson State Park is the 44th annual Western and Wildlife Art Show at in the historic Veterinary Hospital building, where the day's highlight was the 2nd-annual Kid's Art Wall. Hours for the Art Show are 9-7:00 today and 9-5:00 tomorrow.
Tomorrow is the 4th of July Celebration and it starts bright and early with the 5K White River Run/Walk, which has registration from 6:15-7:00 and a 7:30 start, both at the Fort Robinson Post Playhouse.
The annual Parade, with the theme Pages From the Ages, starts at 10:00 with Alan Connell as Grand Marshall. A member of the DAV, Connell has been part of the Crawford Veterans Honor Guard for 46 years and earlier this year completed a 4-1/2 year stint as the Dawes County Veterans Service Officer.
After the Parade, a variety of events will take place downtown from 11:00 AM until 2:00 AM including a Fun Zone through much of the afternoon offering Family Fun and Entertainment.
