(Neb)-ABATE Contributes To Pandhandle Public Transit Group
ALLIANCE - The Panhandle District 13 of ABATE - American Bikers Aiming Towards Education - has donated $600 to Panhandle Trails Intercity Public Transit to kick-start a fund to subsidize passes for seniors, the disabled, and low-income individuals.
ABATE 13 members raised the money through a raffle with two winners for a processed and wrapped half hog. The new fund is in addition to the Keith Herman Veterans Transportation Memorial Fund, established last year to assist veterans throughout the Nebraska Panhandle with transportation services.
Panhandle Trails Transit Director Jonnie Kusek says the generosity of the ABATE members will be a great help to those who might not otherwise be able to reach vital services such as health care because. while there is federal and state funding for operations, there isn't to help individuals with the actual payment of boarding fares,
Panhandle Trails Intercity Public Transit is a division of Alliance-based Senior Services Inc., which has over 43 years of experience in the public transportation industry. It;s the only public intercity bus service serving for of all ages in the Panhandle.
It serves 22 communities throughout most of the Panhandle region plus Keith County to the east, an area of more than 15,000 square miles or about 20% of Nebraska. Panhandle Trails plans to add more routes by the end of the year.
