(Neb)-Neb Children's Museum Mobile Exhibition In Chadron
CHADRON - The Nebraska Children's Museum traveling exhibition "Truckin' Through Nebraska" has arrived in Chadron and opens to the public this afternoon.
Hours are 1:00-8:30 today and 10:00-5:30 Saturday in the parking lot behind city hall on Bordeaux Street across from the KCSR/KBPY studios.
"Truckin' Through Nebraska" is an official Nebraska 150 Sesquicentennial event and its also one of the 80 stops on this year's Nebraska Passport program.
There were concerns the stop might be shortened because 10 volunteers are needed to man the various displays for each of 4 shifts over the two days and signups were slow, but city officials said yesterday they did have enough...although more would be better.
There's a 30-minute orientation-training session before each of the 4 volunteer shifts. Those wanting to volunteer but not yet signed up need to call city hall to be assigned to a shift.
Truckin' Through Nebraska is intended to teach kids and families about Nebraska's history through stories, play, interactivity, and the latest technology...allowing them to explore their heritage and envision their future and career opportunities.
The exhibition was in Gordon on Monday and Tuesday and will be in Alliance next Tuesday and Wednesday before continuing on through the Panhandle with stops in Scottsbluff, Kimball, and Sidney. All together, it will visit 42 towns across the state.
