(Wyo)-Teen Arrested For "Columbine-Type" Shooting Threat
RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming authorities on Thursday arrested a 17-year-old boy accused of writing a note Tuesday that threatened a Columbine High School-type shooting at Riverton High School.
Riverton police spokesman Todd Byerley of the Riverton Police Department says the note referenced the 1999 Colorado school shooting that killed 13 people in 1999 and said similar violence could take place at Riverton.
The note was found at Riverton High, prompting school officials and police to issue notice of a general threat Tuesday night and to station officers at all Riverton schools on Wednesday.
The arrest was made Thursday based on evidence found during a police search. The teen, whose name has not been released has been charged with felony juvenile delinquency connected to terroristic threats. School officials say the teen will be expelled.
