(SD)-Pennington County Courthouse Project Completion Delayed 2 Months
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - The completion date for the more than $2 million renovation of the south entrance to the Pennington County Courthouse in Rapid City has been pushed back from Oct 20 to Dec 15.
will be finished two months behind schedule.
Mike Kuhl, construction project manager at the county's Buildings and Grounds Department, told the Rapid City Journal the project is 2 months behind schedule because the contractor didn't expect such a cold winter, which froze soil that had been dug up.
Kuhl says as a result, extra time was needed to lay a new foundation with a specialty subcontractor in Denver having to come to Rapid City to do the work.
The public will be able to use the courthouse's main doors again once the work is finished. The Pennington County Courthouse was built in 1922.
