(Wyo)-EWC Picks Casper College Dean As President
TORRINGTON, Wyo - Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington has picked an administrator at another Wyoming community college to be its next president. Dr Lesley Travers, Dean of Business and Industry at Casper College since 2009, will succeed Rick Patterson on July 1st.
Travers was selected by the EWC board from among 6 finalists who visited both of the school's campuses in Torrington and Douglas.
Travers says she's "humbled and honored" to be named president, calling it "the realization of a huge dream." She says she looks forward to it with "excitement and trepidation" because Eastern Wyoming is a leader among the Wyoming community colleges with a great history spanning almost 70 years.
Travers says the school and its supporters "can expect lots of energy and new ideas...good listening and hard work" from her as she endeavors to bring her best to the college every day.
In announcing Travers' hiring, EWC Trustee President John Patrick thanked Patterson for "his commitment and dedication to the school as a professor and administrator.
Patrick says Patterson assumed the presidency at a difficult moment for the college, and went on to steer it successfully through the stressful situations created by significant funding cuts imposed during a period of decreasing funding from the State of Wyoming.
