(SD)-Free Weekend Tours At Wind Cave National Park

By: John Axtell Posted at: 04/15/2017 11:27 PM
This is National Park Week with entrance fees waived this weekend and next at most parks around the country. The theme this year is Parks 101...marking the 101st year of the National Park Service and emphasizing why national parks are important to the nation and its residents.

Wind Cave National Park is offering free cave tours both weekends, part of what Chief of Interpretation Tom Farrell says they're calling Caves 101, covering how caves are formed and why Wind Cave is special.

    PLAY SOUNDBITE

Scotts Bluff National Monument, which got a head start on National Park Week Friday with its annual Monument Cleanup, on Sunday opens the month-long run of the annual "An Artist's Perception" Art Show in the visitor center.

The show features works by members of the North Platte Valley Artist Guild that showcase  the scenery and the natural and cultural history of the area. There's a reception for the artists in the show tomorrow from 2-till-4:00, sponsored by the Oregon Trail Museum Association
