(SD)-Abbott House Shelter Program Looking To Expand Again
MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota group that helps girls who have been victims of abuse and neglect is looking to expand again.
The Abbott House has operated in Mitchell since 1939...offering therapy, education and living options for abused and neglected girls between the ages of 7 and 17.
It opened an all-boys foster home in Rapid City in November, then added an all-girls foster home there in February.
Abbott House Executive Director Eric Klooz says they were originally looking at going to Sioux Falls, but decided the need was greater in Rapid City. Klooz says Sioux Falls is still being considered, but that Abbott is also talking with officials in Huron.
