(Neb)-Alliance Hires Kuckkahn As City Manager

By: John Axtell Posted at: 04/08/2017 10:25 PM
Former longtime Scottsbluff City Manager Rick Kuckkahn apparently wasn't ready for retirement after all when he stepped down last March after 19 years.

Kuckkahn spent a few months as a special projects coordinator for Scottsbluff, then became the interim city manager for Alliance in August and added the same post in Bridgeport last December . Now, he's the new permanent Alliance City Manager.

Alliance began looking to fill the position after J-D Cox left 7 months ago for a similar post in Colorado, and Kuckkahn not only handled day-to-day city operations, he worked with the consulting firm hired to do a nationwide search.

The Alliance City Council conducted interviews by Skype last month with 5 finalists, but ultimately decided they liked Kuckkahn better and convinced him to accept the job.

He says it was the farthest thing from his mind when he came to Alliance, but now seems the logical next step given the chemistry he has with the council and city staff...explaining "it just fit very nicely for me."

Kuckkahn will continue as the interim city manager in Bridgeport for another 2 months to give leaders there time to find either a temporary or permanent replacement.
