(Neb)-Catholics Told Corned Beef And Cabbage OK Today
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Many Roman Catholics who ordinarily abstain from eating meat on Fridays during Lent, the 40 days before Easter, have been given a "Paddy Pardon" for St. Patrick's Day, including those in the Omaha Archdiocese.
Bishops, Archbishops, and even a Cardinal have granted blanket dispensations for those wanting to enjoy the traditional corned beef and cabbage today, but asking them to do an extra act of charity in exchange.
