(Wyo)-UW Looking To Increase Number Of Transfer Students
LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The University of Wyoming is looking to boost enrollment by increasing transfer students.Transfer numbers peaked in 2010 with 1,159 but dropped steadily before bottoming out in 2015 at 930. New transfer students rose slightly this fall to 967, but that's still only about 7% of total enrollment.
UW President Laurie Nichols says the student population has been adequate for a school its size, enrollment the last 9 years has been flat with little to no growth.
Outreach School Interim Dean Alyson Hagy told a public listening session on the school's five-year strategic plan that while all transfers are welcome, UW needs to focus on recruiting more students from Wyoming community colleges.
