KIMBALL - Kimball Mayor Keith Prunty has picked former Mead, Colorado, town manager Dan Dean as the new city administrator, with the city council to meet in special session next Tuesday at 6:30 for a confirmation vote.

Dean and fellow finalist Edith Ball of Ida Grove, Iowa, were interviewed a week ago Monday and Mayor Prunty says while both were excellent, he was sold by Dean's more than 30 years experience in local government.

Mead has served communities in Colorado, Oregon, and Nebraska...including 8 years of running Mead,  a bedroom community for Denver, Fort Collins, Greeley and Boulder.

An unsuccessful candidate for the city manager's job in Sidney earlier this year, he has been interim town manager for Paonia, Colorado, since September 1st.

Dean told the Western Nebraska Observer he has a lot of experience in small communities and is excited to be chosen by Kimball and looks forward to working with the mayor and the community.

Dean said his overall impression of Kimball was positive, adding that the community has a nice feel to it, he is impressed with the City of Kimball staff. and he enjoys how well Kimball is maintained.

Mayor Prunty says if the city council does confirm Dean as city administrator next Tuesday, his projected start date would be February 6th.
