(Neb.)-Chadron State Part Tri-Athalon To Be Held Sunday
(Chadron)-Community wellness is the goal during the annual Try-Athlon at Chadron State Park this weekend. The annual event, sponsored by the Chadron Lifespan Wellness Team, will be Sunday, Aug. 24, at 3 p.m.
Entrants of the Try-Athlon are challenged to swim, bike or run, either individually or with team members. Check-in begins at 2 p.m. at the park swimming pool and participants may sign up and pay the $10 registration fee the day of the event. Organizers bill the event not as a competitive undertaking, but rather one to “get your body moving.” They invite participants of all skill levels.
Individuals or teams may enter two levels of competition – a long course and a short course. The long course consists of five lengths in the pool, six miles of biking on the park’s paved roads, and 3.1 miles of running over its trails. The short course consists of three pool lengths, two miles of biking and a two-mile run.
Entrants who do not want to do all three stages –running, biking and swimming -- may join with one or two other team members and split the duties as they wish.
All vehicles entering the park must have a valid daily or annual park permit, available for purchase at the entrance or at outdoornebraska.com. More information is available by contacting Western Community Health Resources at 308-432-8190.
