(S.D.)-Lead Man Dies In Deadwood Accident
(DEADWOOD) – A pedestrian from Lead, S.D., was struck and killed by a pickup truck while crossing U.S. Highway 14A near a convenience store in Deadwood. 51 year old Donald Ray Spurling of Lead was attempting to cross U.S. Highway 14A near a convenience store in Deadwood.
He was not in a designated crosswalk area. He was struck by a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 driven north by 83 year old Cecil Junior Stoner of Rapid City. Spurling died from injuries sustained in the crash. Neither Stoner, nor his passenger, 79 year old Elizabeth Ann Stoner, of Rapid City, was injured in the crash. They were both wearing seatbelts.
No further information is immediately available.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Deadwood Police Department are investigating. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and Deadwood Fire Department assisted.
