(Neb.)-Former Panhandle Hospital Administrator Faces Federal Indictment
(Alliance)- A former panhandle hospital administrator facing multiple state charges of possession of child pornography has now been indicted on two federal counts.
KNEB in Scottsbluff is reporting that 65-year-old Jim Parks is charged with receipt and distribution of child pornography from at least on or about June 9, 2013 and continuing to on or about June 10, 2013. He is also charged in the indictment with possession of child pornography on or about August 8, 2013.
The maximum penalty in the first federal charge is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He could get up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the second federal charge.
Parks will face trial on seven counts of child pornography in Box Butte County District in a trial set for April 28 and 29.
Parks, the former Chief Operating Officer for Box Butte General Hospital, was arrested following a four month long investigation in which he is alleged to have possessed and shared child pornography.
Court documents in Box Butte District Court indicate the investigation began after hospital officials discovered a questionable history on Parks' computer and alerted authorities.
Parks is free on bond after entering not guilty pleas on all of the counts. He has retained Tylor Petitt as his legal counsel.
