(Neb.)-Local NOAA Radio Signal Down

By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 10/10/2013 11:17 AM

(Chadron)-Many people in the KCSR/KBPY listening area not only rely on local radio, but NOAA all-hazards radios as well. Those radios can provide information on emergencies from storms to Amber Alerts in the area. Unfortunately, the local transmitter for the NOAA radio is not operating properly at this time.

The transmitter has been out in the Chadron area for approximately one week, going down around the time that the winter storm passed through. Officials are working on remedying the problem, but are unsure how long it will take for the transmitter to become operational.

In the meantime, people wishing to stay up to date on weather information can listen to KCSR/KBPY, and they can also visit Chadrad.com for weather forecasts and storm alerts. There is also a link to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, which also provides the latest radar images. When the NOAA transmitter is up and running again, we will notify our listeners.
