(Neb.)-Harrisburg Woman Injured In Semi/Train Wreck
(Oshkosh)-A Harrisburg woman is in critical condition at Regional West Medical Center following a semi-train collision approximately a mile east of Oshkosh Friday morning. KNEB in Scottsbluff is reporting that 28-year-old Tasha Baxter, the driver of the semi, was flown from the scene to Regional West Medical Center by Midwest MedAir out of North Platte.
Union Pacific spokesperson Mark Davis says an eastbound coal train with 136 cars struck a semi hauling a trailer full of corn at a private crossing off of Highway 26 with stop signs just east of Oshkosh.
Garden County Sheriff Michelle Quinn is still investigating the accident. She says she has been unable to talk to the victim, who was unconscious when she received her last report. But Quinn said there was no cell phone involved and admitted it is a "bad crossing where the angle is not the best".
Davis says the accident happened around 9:50 Friday morning one mile east of Oshkosh.
