(Neb.)-Road Construction Advisories On Way To Husker Game
(Lincoln)-The first home Husker football game is tomorrow evening at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. In fact, the first five games this season are all home games. Motorists planning highway travel to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln home football games are reminded to buckle-up and pay extra close attention to the greatly increased traffic which also lengthens travel time.
There are several active highway improvement projects on Nebraska’s highways and the interstate. Nebraska Department of Roads contractors will try to minimize lane closures on home game weekends for highways around the immediate Lincoln area, but some lane and speed restrictions will still be in place.
NDOR is recommending that travelers leave for their destination early, allowing plenty of time for safe arrival to Memorial Stadium, and also for the return trip home. They also recommend using 511 resources before traveling to be aware of possible construction. The Advanced Traveler Information Service, 511, is a free 24-hour, year-round information source offered by the NDOR and the State Patrol.
Lincoln Area Highways Under Construction with Speed Reductions include on I-80 Exit 405, Hwy 77/North 56th Street to Exit 409 Waverly, US-6 East of Lincoln, Waverly to Greenwood, and US-34 East of Seward.
Message boards will be posted, as in the past, to direct traffic upon departure from Lincoln. City of Lincoln Police and Public Works, along with Nebraska State Patrol and NDOR coordinate Husker game day traffic operations to enhance public safety.
Statewide construction on the way to Lincoln includes I-80 ongoing projects from Potter to Bronson, Roscoe to Paxton, Sutherland West, and North Platte Exits. Speed reductions, lane restrictions, and some head-to-head traffic will be in place during home football weekends on Hwy 81 South of Madison and south of York.
