By: Roxie Graham-Marski Posted at: 08/29/2013 08:20 AM
LINCOLN, Neb. (ASSOCIATED PRESS) - The application form for those interested in being the next Nebraska education commissioner is now available.

The application may be accessed on the web site of PROACT, the firm overseeing the search process, at
http://www.proactsearch.com/current-openings/. The application deadline is Oct. 15.

PROACT will pre-screen applicants and conduct preliminary interviews, suggesting a slate of candidates from which the semi-finalists will be selected.

Semi-finalists are expected to be interviewed by the Nebraska State Board of Education Search Committee in November, and the finalists will be interviewed by the board in December at a public meeting.

Nebraska Education Commissioner Roger Breed retired in June. He's had held the job since October 2008, and he had served as an educator in Nebraska for nearly 42 years.
