(Neb.)- Smoke Smell Over NW Nebraska Caused By Wildfires In Wyo, ID, And MT
(Chadron)- According to Nebraska National Grassland Fire Management Officer Tristan Fluharty, the scent of smoke over northwest Nebraska today is being caused by wildfires burning in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. Ten to fifteen wildfires are currently burning in those three states with the largest being the almost 148,000 acre Pony Complext fire in Idaho.
Fluharty says there is currently no fire activity in the Pine Ridge Forest District area.
Chadron Fire Personnel, Nebraska Forest Service, and Pine Ridge Job Corps crews responded to a fire south of Chadron earlier this week that burned an almost 20 acre area dubbed the South Aristocrat fire.
