(DAWES COUNTY)-The Dawes County commissioners had a light agenda at their meeting on Wednesday morning. Chair Jake Stewart explains…

The commissioners approved two Department of Health and Human Services subgrants, one for the district court’s office and the other for the county attorney’s office. District court clerk Sharon Harrison says both subgrants involved time, supplies, and space provided by the court’s and attorney’s offices to child support services within the county. Approximately $61,275 will make their way into the county’s general fund as a result.

Twenty appointments and several read-ins have been scheduled for the valuation protest hearing taking place July 22nd-25th. The board also agreed to support the Crawford Chamber of Commerce again this year with a donation, and approved Crawford resident John Stumph to serve on the veterans’ committee board, replacing Ben Rivera.

Stewart says his plans for the 4th of July and the week to follow are a deep-seated tradition that involves gratitude and time with loved ones.

Stewart says this year is a little different than last year weather-wise, but he still cautions people to stay safe and do their part.
