(Neb.)- Medicaid Bill Supporters To Rally At Neb. Capitol
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Supporters of a bill to expand Medicaid are planning a rally at the Nebraska Capitol.
The rally is part of a push to get to a vote this year on the measure, which has stalled because of a legislative filibuster.
The proposal would offer Medicaid to more low-income, childless adults as part of the federal health care law. It was originally required under the law, but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the federal government can't penalize states that refuse to participate.
Speakers will include Sen. Kathy Campbell of Lincoln, Sen. Steve Lathrop of Omaha, the past president of the Nebraska Medical Association, the CEO of the Ogallala Community Hospital and the Nebraska president of AARP.
The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
