(CHADRON)-At their meeting Monday evening, the Chadron city council authorized the use of city property at Tenth Street and Highway 385 for a new “Welcome to Chadron” sign at the south entrance into town.
At the council’s previous meeting, Collette Fernandez and Senna Reeves from the Chadron Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber Board met with council members to discuss the possibility of a sign at that location.
The sign will sit on the east side of the highway and will most likely be constructed of stone and cement. City manager Wayne Anderson explains some of the possible features of the new sign and says the city will help with upkeep.

Anderson says the committee that’s been working on the project is moving full steam ahead and is currently exploring funding options.

The sign will be placed off the highway approximately 65 feet, but Anderson says it will be on the top of the hill and easy to see. He says it will have “precedence.”
