(Neb.)-Chadron Fire Crews Respond To Snowmobile Fire

By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 04/11/2013 11:17 AM

(Chadron)-The Chadron Fire Department responded to a snowmobile fire shortly before 11 on Thursday morning. The incident was reported at 10th and Main, and was spotted by a passerby.

Two people were shoveling snow onto the snowmobile prior to the arrival of a firetruck. One of the men reported the vehicle had suddenly stopped running, so he went inside. A person driving by noticed the smoke coming from the stalled snowmobile and reported it. According to one of the men who lived at a residence nearby, the snowmobile was in good shape and was fairly new, so he wasn’t sure what had happened to start the fire.

Fire crews brought only one truck to the scene, and were using water and also a pick to help get better access to the area of the vehicle which was smoking.  Crews returned to the fire hall by 11:20 am.
