(Neb.)-Body Of Stranded Nebraska Panhandle Woman Found

By: Roxie Graham-Marski Posted at: 04/11/2013 08:07 AM
BEREA, Neb. (ASSOCIATED PRESS) - The Nebraska State Patrol says a western Nebraska woman whose body was found in a field in the Nebraska Panhandle by searchers on snowmobiles died of exposure.

The patrol says 35-year-old Lisa Conrad's 19-year-old son, who was found alive in an abandoned farmhouse nearly three miles from his mother, remains in stable condition at the Box Butte General Hospital where he is being treated for hypothermia and frostbite.

The patrol says Lisa Conrad was on her way home from work when she called her husband around 12:30 a.m. to tell him her car was disabled. Her son has told investigators he was able to walk from the family's house to his mother's car, but the mother and son became disoriented in the snowstorm when they tried to walk back home.
