(SCOTTSBLUFF)-KNEB in Scottsbluff reports a Cheyenne man charged in the fatal rollover that killed Scottsbluff teenagers Alexis Wheeler and Hallie Anderson entered not guilty pleas Wednesday to four felony counts at a court hearing in Torrington.
Twenty-two-year-old Ethan Kaufman faces two counts of aggravated homicide by a vehicle in the deaths of the teenagers. Kaufman is also charged with drunk driving causing serious bodily injury regarding two other passengers, 19-year-old Tyler Hill of Lyman and Stetson Allen of Morrill. Kaufman could receive up to 60 years in prison if convicted on all four counts.
Kaufman remains free on $50,000 bond and no trial date was set by Goshen County District Judge Keith Kautz.
Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Anthony Badura testified during Kaufman's preliminary hearing that evidence and witness statements indicated the defendant was traveling 99 miles per hour, was legally intoxicated and was texting just prior to the accident.
