(Neb.)-Johanns Announces Retirement
(Chadron)-After serving in eight offices, spanning over 16 general elections, it was announced today that Senator Mike Johanns will not seek reelection for the U.S Senate.
Senator Johanns said in a statement, “Words are inadequate to fully express our appreciation for the friendship and support you have given to us over the past the decades.”
Johanns served as the governor of Nebraska from 1999 to 2005 and had also served from 2005-2007 as the U.S Secretary of Agriculture totaling 32 years in public service.
Johanns also said that, “We are confident that there will be many more opportunities to serve our state and our nation. We look forward to the remaining time in Senate.”
Johanns will turn 63 this June.
