(Wyo.)- Wyo. Senate Rejects Requiring High School Until 18
By: Jeremy Anderson Posted at: 01/23/2013 10:59 AM CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Two high school education bills have died at the state Legislature.
The Senate on Tuesday defeated a bill that would have required students to stay in school until they're 18 and another that would have required them to take four years of math.
Students can decide to drop out once they've turned 16.
The bill to change the dropout age failed after facing intense lobbying from parents who home-school their children.
Students would still have been able to leave school before they turned 18 with a parent's permission.
Both bills were sponsored by Sen. Chris Rothfuss of Laramie.
