(Neb.)-Eastern Nebraska Students Plan Press Conference To Address Whiteclay
(Whiteclay)-Students from Creighton, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and University of Nebraska Lincoln will be holding a student-led press conference to raise awareness of issues regarding Whiteclay, and to call for action, which includes a boycott of Anheuser Busch.
The press conference will take place next Tuesday, beginning at 10 am on the Creighton campus. Several speakers will address the issue of alcohol in Whiteclay, and will also include personal testimonies of several students. Several of the students are members of the Whiteclay Awareness Student Organization.
Over the past several years, many have attempted to thwart sales of alcohol in Whiteclay as it borders the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where alcohol is banned, but alcoholism is rampant. There have been many protests and blockades set up to prevent the transport of alcohol across the border into the reservation. As of this point, there has been no legal action enacted to prevent the sale of alcohol in Whiteclay.
