BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The National Weather Service says a major winter storm is bearing down on the Dakotas.
The storm is expected to bring freezing rain, heavy snow, strong winds and dangerously cold temperatures late Thursday into Saturday.
All of North Dakota is under a winter storm watch for that time period. Forecasters say parts of the state could get up to 10 inches of snow and wind chills as low as 30 degrees below zero.
Western, north central and northeastern South Dakota are expected to be impacted by the storm, with some areas getting up to 8 inches of snow, along with the dangerous wind chills.
