(Wyo.)-Proposed Tourism Budget Cuts Irk Jackson Hole Residents

     JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - Gov. Matt Mead's proposal to cut about $1 million from the state tourism budget is drawing opposition from some people in Jackson Hole.
 
     Jackson Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jeff Golightly is trying to rally opposition to the proposed cuts, which will be taken up by state lawmakers in the general legislative session that began Tuesday.
 
     More than $500,000 of the money would be taken from an advertising program that lets small business piggyback on advertisements paid for by the state. Through the program, businesses can buy ad space on inserts and pamphlets that promote Wyoming.
 
     Golightly says that it doesn't make sense to cut the tourism budget because the industry brings money back to the state.
