(S.D.)-Deadwood Cabin Added To National Historic Register

     DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) - A log cabin located just outside of Deadwood has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.
 
     State historic preservation officer Jay Vogt says that the Pearson Cabin could date back to 1876 with the Black Hills Gold Rush, and its early construction could be tied to gold seekers. The roof is covered in cyanide can lids manufactured after 1902, but the structure could well have been built prior to that and the lids added later.
 
     Vogt says the property is both fascinating and unique.
 
     The South Dakota State Historical Society identifies historic properties throughout the state and presents them to the national register.
 
     Deadwood area resident Bill Pearson says the cabin has been treasured and preserved by his family for decades.
