(Neb.)-Christmas Dinner To Take Place At Assumption Arena On Tuesday  Listen

By: Roxie Graham-Marski Posted at: 12/24/2012 11:36 AM

(CHADRON)-It’s nearly Christmas Day again. A time for giving and sharing, a time for warmth, good food, and visits with family and friends. Christmas can be a sad and lonely time for some or a time that feels lacking due to finances or other pressures. The community of Chadron is again providing a Christmas dinner at the Chadron Assumption Arena, located at 335 Spruce Street, for those who will not have family to join or who are not able to get out for the holiday. Coordinator Linda Yeradi spoke with KCSR last week and said the dinner is available to anyone in the surrounding community free of charge and can even be delivered if needed even the deadline has expired.

The information needed is a name, address, phone number, and number of meals desired.
Yeradi said the dinner is a way to bond with other members of the community as well.

She said this event would not happen every year as it has for the past 9 or 10 years if it weren’t for those who give.

If someone would like to make a last minute donation, as of last Thursday, more green beans, pies, and cool whip were needed. For those wishing to donate, call 432-2626 and leave a message with what you are planning to bring.
People donate their time to the dinner as well. Volunteers will begin showing up around 7:30 a.m. in the morning to begin meal preparations. Meal delivery will commence around 11:30 a.m., and the meal at Assumption Arena will begin about noon.
