(Neb.)-ATV Accident Sends One To Hospital
(Chadron)-An accident involving an all-terrain vehicle sent one person to the hospital Tuesday evening in Chadron. According to Chadron Police Chief Tim Lordino, the single rider was walking his dog near Boog Horse Park on North Morehead around 4:30 pm, when the dog went one way and the ATV went the other. The man was transported to Chadron Community Hospital with facial injuries.
According to Lordino, ATV’s are not intended for street use, and do not behave the same as they would on a dirt road. For instance, he said that if the incident had occurred on dirt as opposed to pavement, the vehicle would more than likely have skidded rather than tipped over.
Lordino also stated that even though it is not in the city ordinance for ATV riders to wear helmets, if the rider would have been wearing one, he would not likely have sustained the injuries that he did. He urged caution and common sense for those riding ATVs on paved streets.
