(Neb.)-People Invited To Make Swags For Holidays
(Chadron)-Chadron State College Arboretum Volunteers’ winter seasonal project will held Saturday, November 10 at the Mari Sandoz Heritage Center beginning at 9 AM and wrapping up at noon. Volunteers will learn how to make holiday swags to decorate campus.
According to Lucinda Mays, Public Horticulturist for Chadron State College, this event caps off the 2012 season of Simple Do-It-Yourself volunteer events.
The Chadron State College Arboretum Volunteers’ hosted four events including simple seed care, where volunteers learned how to store and package seeds for sale, sorted and cleaned seeds gathered from campus gardens last fall. The second annual seed swap was also held. Other events covered garden tool care and spring and fall planting.
Mays said they welcome volunteers of all ages every time they get together. They learn a lot from each other and at this workshop Mays said they will celebrate the season and prepare evergreen swags for the campus. She encourages people to bring their own ribbon for making one to take home.
