(Neb.)-Chadron Girl Scouts Prepare For Annual Spaghetti Feed
(Chadron)-A lot of people look forward to the annual cookie sales that the Chadron Girl Scout troops participate in around the first of the year. DeAnn Koerber, who is a local troop leader as well as the leader for the Chadron Service Unit, said this is a fun fundraiser, but one event that nets even more money for the local troops is the annual spaghetti feed, which will be taking place this weekend.
The annual Spaghetti Feed will be this Sunday from 5-7:00 PM at the Assumption Arena. Tickets are $5 adults or $3 for 10 or under. Koerber said the great thing about the proceeds from this is that it stays completely local. With cookie sales, the local troops get approximately 50 cents per package sold, but all funds raised with the spaghetti feed stay in Chadron.
According to Koerber, 10-20 percent of the funds raised to go the Chadron Service Unit, which helps fund activities for all of the girls involved in Scouting in Chadron, so that there is a very minimal cost for them to participate. The remaining 80-90 percent goes back to the troops themselves for any supplies or costs the troops may need.
Another plus is that supplies for the spaghetti feed are purchased locally as well. For tickets, people can contact a girl scout, and tickets will also be sold at the door.
