(CHADRON)-Three religious leaders from the Chadron area approached the Dawes County commissioners at their meeting Wednesday morning with a letter from the Chadron Pastoral Community, inviting people of various faith backgrounds to join together this upcoming weekend to pray for rain and other needs around the world. A copy of the letter follows.
October 3, 2012
There are moments in our lives when common need draws people of divergent religious traditions together. Today is such a time.
The Chadron Pastoral Community encourages people of all faiths to stand in unity on the weekend of Oct 6 & 7 (World Communnion Sabbath) to pray for rain.
: Pray for needed moisture here and in the whole region of the high plains, along with the upper mid-west.
:Pray for our Farmers and Ranchers, Brothers and Sisters whose lives have been profoundly affected by years of drought and recent fires.
:Pray for all creatures large and small whose lives depend on water for their existence.
:Pray for those regions of our world who have received excess rain and storms that have caused suffering and destruction.
