(Regional)-Group That Aids Farmers Helping Their 200th Family

By: Roxie Graham-Marski Posted at: 09/28/2012 10:20 AM
WYNDMERE, N.D. (AP) - A North Dakota-based group that provides planting and harvesting aid to farmers who are hurting is helping its 200th family.

Staff and volunteers with Farm Rescue are near Wyndmere, in southeastern North Dakota, harvesting soybeans and corn for Dan and Rose Dotzenrod.

Dan Dotzenrod broke his neck in June when he fell off a semi-trailer.

Since its inception seven years ago, Farm Rescue has worked with farmers in Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Montana.

The group aims to help people on small family farms who have experienced a major injury, illness or natural disaster.

Rose Dotzenrod says it's amazing that the group has been able to assist so many families in such a short time. She calls this week's harvesting effort "a prayer in motion."
