(S.D.)-Hot Springs Man Indicted For Murder In Mother's Disappearance
HOT SPRINGS, S.D. (AP) - A 26-year-old Hot Springs man has been
indicted on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the
October disappearance of his mother.
A Fall River County grand jury indicted Matthew Tornquist on
Thursday on the first-degree murder charge, an alternative count of
second-degree murder and a single count of grand theft related to
cash missing from Catherine Tornquist.
The indictment accuses Matthew Tornquist in the killing on or
about Oct. 4. Catherine Tornquist was reported missing the first
week in October. Her remains have not been found.
Prosecutor Matt Brown, the deputy states' attorney for Custer
County, said Matthew Tornquist has been in federal custody in Rapid
City on non-related charges since earlier this spring.
The grand jury heard testimony from 14 witnesses.
