(S.D.)-Wind Cave Visitors Up 11 Percent Over Last Year
WIND CAVE NATIONAL PARK, S.D. (AP) - Rangers at Wind Cave
National Park say they've seen an 11 percent increase in visitors
over last year.
More than 32,000 people have toured the Black Hills cave so far in 2012.
Park superintendent Vidal Davila says the warm spring weather
has helped draw people in. He says the park is ahead of its 2010
numbers, when visitors to Wind Cave spent $17.6 million in the park
and surrounding communities.
The park offers more than thirty daily tours, with the first
entering the cave at 8:40 a.m. and the last leaving the visitor
center at 6:00 p.m.
Davila says with cave temperature degrees in the upper 40s and lower
50s, cave tours make a great way to cool off.
