(S.D.)-Event Highlights Sage Grouse, Black-Footed Ferrets

     RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Presentations in Rapid City on
black-footed ferrets and sage grouse are highlighting the 6th
Annual Endangered Species Day celebration this Friday evening.
     The event at the Outdoor Campus West is sponsored by several
environmental groups and is free and open to the public.
     U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologist Terry Quesinberry will
discuss federally listed endangered, threatened and candidate
species in South Dakota. His presentation will include the
black-footed-ferret reintroduction program in South Dakota and
other states.
     Following an intermission and awards, Bureau of Land Management
wildlife biologist Chuck Berdan will discuss the greater sage
grouse and efforts to protect the species.
     The event begins at 5:15 p.m. MDT with dinner, followed by a
program at 6:15 p.m.
