(S.D.) - Wounded Knee conference continues Saturday
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - An FBI investigator and two assistant U.S. attorneys who prosecuted thousands of cases stemming from the 1973 Wounded Knee takeover are scheduled to speak during the second and final day of a conference examining the siege.
David Price, an FBI investigator on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in 1973, and Judge David Gienapp and attorney James McMahon, assistant U.S. attorneys prosecuting Wounded Knee cases, are three of the speakers scheduled to share their memories and experience Saturday at Augustana College.
"Wounded Knee 1973: Forty Years Later" is bringing together all sides from the 71-day armed occupation.
Other panel topics scheduled for Saturday include women who took part in the siege and a screening of American Indian Movement leader Dennis Banks' documentary "A Good Day to Die."
