(S.D.) - No Travel Advised on a Portion of Highway 65 between McIntosh and Isabel

By: John Thayer Posted at: 04/27/2012 04:06 PM

CORSON COUNTY, S.D. – Due to muddy conditions, the South Dakota Department of Transportation is advising No Travel on a portion of state Highway 65 in Corson County.

Recent precipitation in north central South Dakota has made travel difficult through the one-point-seven-miles (1.7) grading project located 17 miles south of McIntosh on Highway 65 and 21 miles north of Isabel.

Officials are warning motorists that continued precipitation and a strong storm system moving into the area will likely make this section of highway impassable later this afternoon (April 27).

The department will have flaggers around-the-clock at McIntosh and Isabel to warn motorists of the conditions. If the highway does become impassable, barricades will be placed at either end of the project and motorists will need to turn around.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to take an alternate route and visitwww.safetravelusa.com/sd/ or dial 511 for road construction, closure, and opening information.

For more information contact the Mobridge Area Department of Transportation office at 605-845-3844.
