(Neb.) - Pitch, Hit and Run is May 6
Chadron Kiwanis will host the local Pitch, Hit and Run competition Sunday, May 6, at Maurice Horse Field on north Main Street.
Registration for the competition, which is open to boys and girls age 7-14, will begin at 1 p.m. The competition starts at 2 p.m.
Pitch, Hit and Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball and is cosponsored by Aquafina. The grassroots program is designed to provide youth an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core skills in baseball or softball.
Competitors are divided into four age divisions – 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 --and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including team championships at MLB ballparks and the national finals at the 2012 MLB All-Star Game.
The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, and the all-around champion in each age group at the local competition, will be awarded and advance to the sectional level of competition May 20 in Wyoming.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and fill out a registration form prior to the start of the competition. For questions, contact Duane Gardener at 308-432-4257. More information also is available on the Pitch, Hit and Run website, a part of MLB.com.
