(Wyo.) - Family of Gillette woman want coroner to resign

By: John Thayer Posted at: 04/16/2012 08:25 AM
GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - The family of a Gillette woman found dead last month is demanding that the Campbell County coroner resign for his handling of the investigation.

The body of 49-year-old Ruth Martinson London was found March 29, three days after she went missing. Coroner Tom Eekhoff ruled her death an apparent suicide.

In a letter submitted to The Gillette News Record Friday, the family's lawyer faulted the coroner for reaching the finding after six hours and before the results of an autopsy or ballistics or toxicology tests. Lawyer Nick Carter said part of Martinson London's skull were left at the scene.

Eekhoff was skeptical of that claim and says he won't resign. He said the initial results of the autopsy and blood tests back up his initial conclusion but he wouldn't elaborate.
