(S.D.) - 22,300 tax extensions expected in South Dakota
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The Internal Revenue Service says it expects 22,300 tax extensions to be filed in South Dakota.
IRS spokeswoman Carrie Resch tells KGFX radio that about 25 to 30 percent of returns are filed in the last weeks of the filing season.
This year's deadline is April 17, and anyone who has yet to file can get an automatic six month tax filing extension.
Resch says an extension can offer some extra time for those who can't make the deadline, and it helps filers avoid mistakes that sometimes happen when people are rushed.
