(Neb.) - Car chase suspect surrenders
CHADRON - A 17-year-old male surrendered to police just after 4:00 p.m. after leading officers on a high speed chase early Friday afternoon.
The name is not being released because he is a minor.
According to the Chadron Police Department, a routine traffic stop in Chadron near 10th & Cedar started the chase after the individual fled east on 10th street before turning on Ridgeview. The juvenile came within feet of impacting a police car on Ridgeview before the chase continued towards Hay Springs.
The Nebraska State Patrol joined in the chase - which reached speeds of more than 80 mph - and eventually called the chase off after about 20 minutes. Police were able to identify the individual during the chase.
Chadron Police Chief Tim Lordino said the individual was not in custody due to his age. He was issued a citation for speeding, willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, a stop sign violation and trespassing.
There were no injuries during the chase.
