RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Rapid City's oldest building is
preparing to move.
Preliminary work will begin this week to move the "Pap" Madison
cabin from its current location at Halley Park to a concrete pad at
The Journey Museum.
The cabin was built in 1876 and housed the city's first museum.
It was moved to Halley Park in 1926. It has been empty since 2006.
The cost of moving the building is estimated at $7,500, which is
being covered by donations.
Officials hope to have the cabin moved by June 23, which is when
the Journey Museum is holding a fundraiser.
